The collaboration between Studio Hendro Hadinata and EVERY Collections began with EVERY’s exploration of plywood bending techniques at their factory. This joint effort focused on understanding the material more deeply and discovering ways to enhance its application in design while staying true to Indonesian craftsmanship and traditional methods. Together, they realized the potential of plywood bending as a durable and efficient alternative to solid wood.
Plank Chair is a result of this initial collaboration. It features a sleek and lightweight design that is visually striking yet versatile enough to blend with various interior styles. Using plywood bending, the chair incorporates a distinctive negative line between its backrest pillars to reduce stress and increase structural integrity.
The design is inspired by the Warteg wooden facades, commonly found in local eateries across Indonesia. These facades, constructed from numbered wooden planks for easy assembly and disassembly, showcase the practicality and ingenuity of Indonesian design thinking.
Through Plank Chair, Studio Hendro Hadinata and EVERY Collections aim to present a design that embodies the essence of Indonesian culture, bringing its unique identity and craftsmanship to a global audience.

Studio Hendro Hadinata first crossed paths with Every Collection in 2020, just as the need for original, design-led hospitality furniture was on the rise.
Our shared goal was to bring the common sense and ‘everyday logic’ of Indonesian culture back into the home. We wanted to design furniture that speaks to people through small, familiar gestures.
Though our work has grown and changed over the years, the heart of the project remains constant: honoring traditional Indonesian habits by blending them into modern lifestyles, accented with new, meticulous details.
