Jogja springs from the concept of ruins, from which both entities have their roots. For ages, even centuries, they were forged, a sign to the labor of human hands. The echoes of a great humanity from long ago.

Each fragment may have tumbled from a high plateau, yet they bear witness to nature’s unfolding.

Creating a tapestry of history, where the masculine and feminine entwine, a beautiful narrative, shaped through time.

    – From time to time,

    Ruins fall upon the plain,

    Chaotic, yet composed,

Bold as tales that long remain.

  • Studio Hendro Hadinata x Dimarmo (Italy)

A young and dynamic company based in Puglia, Dimarmo is where designers and skilled artisans come together to harness stone working traditions. Using an innovative lightened marble technique under the artistic direction of Studio Sid&sign, Dimarmo offers a collection of seats, tables, and accessories with a strong and original personality. All pieces in the collection are one of a kind and made by hand, characterized by geometric and monolithic shapes that showcase the precious stone’s veins.

Despite being worlds apart, Studio Hendro Hadinata entered into a unique collaboration with Dimarmo, a marble specialist based in Puglia, Italy. Our goal was to create a collection that honors the shared values and distinct cultures of both companies.

Our differing backgrounds did not hinder the process; instead, they fueled a thoughtful and significant partnership. The result is ‘Jogja’—a product line that bridges Italian craftsmanship with Indonesian heritage.

A collaboration across disciplines has become increasingly common in the design industry today. It’s no longer confined to a single profession but brings together talents from fields that can be vastly different. This enriches the industry with diverse connections between professionals.

Currently, 2ICONS is teaming up with Studio Hendro Hadinata and Juno Home for a campaign marking a new chapter for 2ICONS, coinciding with the agency’s 10th anniversary.

2ICONS is a Jakarta-based modeling agency with a strong commitment to redefining and reinterpreting existing standards in the fashion community. Rooted in an understanding of diversity and originality, 2ICONS brings a fresh perspective to the modeling industry, allowing each model’s unique identity to shine.

Studio Hendro Hadinata is a product design studio that blends the richness of local cultural heritage with a holistic approach to creative objects. Infusing contextual narratives into each piece is central to the studio’s ethos, as they believe that the cultural heritage and craftsmanship of our ancestors hold the key to shaping the future of design and culture. This concept has been applied to various objects, including furniture and functional art, showcased at events like Salone del Mobile (Milan), Emerge Singapore, and IFFT Tokyo.

Juno Home, established in 1975, is a furniture manufacturer focused on style, comfort, and quality. They ensure every product reflects expertise and experience in creating beautiful and inspiring living spaces. Offering a wide range of materials such as leather, solid wood, and natural fibers like water hyacinth and woven rattan, Juno Home’s pieces are crafted by skilled designers and artisans. They also collaborate with renowned partners from Spain, Italy, and the United States.

KALANAYA is a modular installation created through the collaboration of Studio Hendro Hadinata and Juno Home, bringing to life a narrative that bridges the past and the present. Through complementary contrasts, this piece celebrates beauty that continuously evolves into deeper meaning.

Inspired by the form of a half-classic pitcher merging with a half-modern cup, KALANAYA symbolizes harmony between traditions of the past and the progress of the present. Much like clean water, essential for life despite the inevitable passage of time and changes in the world, KALANAYA represents a reflection and a steadfast vision that inspires. It echoes the spirit of 2ICONS, which drives the modern modeling industry, and showcases the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration with Studio Hendro Hadinata and Juno Home.

KALA means “time,” symbolizing the journey through the past, present, and future. NAYA comes from Sanskrit, meaning “new,” “innovation,” or “leader”

KALANAYA embodies a progressive vision while maintaining a balance with deep-rooted traditions, making it relevant to every entity in this collaboration.

KALANAYA installation consists of two main components: modular objects made from rattan, shaped as a fusion of classic pitcher forms and modern cups. The second component reflects the product designer’s perspective on the unique qualities of rattan, which offers both flexibility and strength, enabling the creation of dramatic curves.

From the roots grow a couple of branches—Ranting, in Bahasa Indonesia—where the life of a tree begins to expand, grow stronger, and reach upward. Just as life on Earth takes many forms, so too do the paths of human lives, often branching out from the home. It all depends on the branch.

RANTTING celebrates the graceful, elongated silhouette of a tree branch. The backrest connects to the main construction with a slender metal rod, creating a captivating floating effect that enhances its visual appeal. A branch may seem small, but it is the pathway through which life extends.

DAUM features thin cushions that mimic the lightness and delicate shape of a leaf. Its curved seat and backrest resemble a leaf gently resting on the ground, bringing a sense of tranquillity to any space. Designed for lounge areas, DAUM carries the gentle leaf of connection—soft, subtle, and essential.

A tiny matter of life—the starting point of everything. It begins underground, then grows into something essential. AKKAR comes from the Indonesian word akar, meaning root. What we see above ground begins from the roots—the true main character of it all.

AKKAR is reminiscent of sprawling tree roots, offering a sturdy yet organic allure. With stretchers and arms extending to other parts of the chair, it provides solid and reliable support. In its original form as a dining chair, AKKAR becomes an important complement to the heart of the home—the dining area. A place where conversations begin and laughter is shared.

When people think of craftsmen, usually image of a skilled artist comes to mind. But in 2015, five architects who have same passion about wood dedicated their selves to establish a new company specialized in wood furniture craftsmanship called Kayou. The word of Kayou is originated from Bahasa Indonesia “kayu” or it means “wood” in English.

Kayou believes that every great design is a team effort. Fortunately, we have highly qualified and passionate wood craftsmen that have their own unique style and perspective. This diversity helps us produce exceptional craftsmanship for all clients.

In terms of material, our products are made of high-quality solid wood. Only few can deny the fact that solid wood furniture looks beautiful in minimalist design. It brings not only a feel of classic but also quality décor to your space. That’s why Kayou deliberately designs minimalist products in order to highlight the beauty of solid wood.

Although our main specialty is crafting solid wood, it doesn’t mean we are not open with other materials. In the future, we are going to extend our range product by combining solid wood with leather, metal or even stone. This is going to allow us to bring you limited styles you can’t find anywhere else.

Our company’s vision also goes beyond interior furnishing. We work hard to bring you beautiful craftsmanship because nothing can make us satisfied than see our product become a masterpiece that you can enjoy everyday.

So welcome to an experience like no other. Here at Kayou.co.id, you’ll discover extensive array of exclusive handcrafted series for your interior space.

Please enjoy and make yourself at home.

As both the essence and core philosophy of Kayou, Studio Hendro Hadinata wants to emphasise the intrinsic beauty of solid wood by tracing it back to its original form as a tree.

While trees in a forest might seem solitary, they are actually connected to other elements of nature within a wider ecosystem. The relationship that naturally occurs between people mirrors this concept of an interconnected natural environment.

RUNG, meaning “forest” in Javanese, seeks to bring the spirit of this phenomenon to interior spaces, evoking a sense of connection and togetherness through conversation around the tables. The collection transcends beyond a mere set of products, capturing the beauty of connection inherent in forests and within ourselves.

The names of the first three products in the RUNG collection — AKKAR, DAUM, and RANTTING — are derived from a playful nod to the forest’s elements: Akar (Roots), Daun (Leaves), and Ranting (Branch).
