Hiro Chair draws inspiration from the esteemed Japanese philosophy of craftsmanship, emphasizing the beauty of detailing and a deep appreciation for simplicity. Guided by this ethos, we embarked on a journey to explore the inherent beauty of materials and techniques. Transitioning from solid wood for the backrest area to the art of plywood bending, we crafted each element to showcase the graceful curves that define its essence. Through careful maximization, we not only achieved the perfect curvature but also minimized material uses. Further enhancing the chair’s aesthetic appeal are subtle yet significant modifications to its foot and profile, giving it a sense of solidity and strength that is both striking and straight-forward.
