Pangku Chair

Drawing inspiration from the famous “Rumah Panggung” or Stilt House, a longstanding tradition in Indonesia, PANGKU determines Indonesian simplicity and expertise in wood craftsmanship. Our ancestors built stilt houses by hearing the sounds of nature; avoid floods by the river, keep wild animals from the jungle, and even strengthen the house if it was near a mountain. Just as Stilt Houses achieve a “floating” effect with their main structures supported by pillars, PANGKU similarly emphasizes detailed pieces that enhance its durability while maintaining a lightweight feel. By designing PANGKU, we honor the incredible ingenuity of our Indonesian ancestors.
